Because it’s such a deviation from the Neapolitan and Sicilian pizzas, some people consider the deep-dish pizza to be a type of casserole or pie.

In contrast, the New York-style pizza is often hailed as one of the best pizzas in the world. It was initially created as a variation of the Neapolitan pizza but has since branched out to become its own dish.
Unlike its Neapolitan counterpart, the New York-style pizza has a thicker dough base and a crispy crust. As a result, the pizza can handle heavier toppings.
Most New York pizzas simply feature mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Some iterations also include red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese, garlic power, oregano and various other condiments.
One of the most defining characteristics of the New York-style pizza are its large, foldable slices.
- Greek pizza
Greek pizzas are cooked in shallow pans that are coated in olive oil. This fries the bottom of the dough base, making the crust puffier and chewier than most pizzas.
Unlike its American and Italian counterparts, Greek pizza isn’t heavy on the cheese. It focuses instead on sauces and various Greek toppings. Common ingredients might include black olives, artichokes, roasted red peppers and basil. If cheese is included, it’s usually feta, mozzarella or cheddar cheese.
It is said that Greek pizza came into existence when a few Greek immigrants were introduced to Italian pizza in the eastern regions of the United States.
